Tragic Bus Crash in North-eastern the Brazilian Northeast Results in the Lives of 15 People
An intercity bus traveling through north-eastern the country was involved in a serious crash, leaving 15 passengers fatally injured, as stated by regional authorities.
Details of the Crash
The bus was transporting about 30 passengers when it lost control and slammed into a sand barrier, leading it to flip on its side. How many wounded passengers transported to local hospitals remains unclear.
The journey originated in the state of Bahia and ended tragically in Saloá, located in the neighbouring state of Pernambuco.
How It Happened
Initial reports indicate that the driver lost command of the bus, entering the oncoming traffic lane and hitting boulders on the roadside. Subsequently, the driver returned to the proper lane but then collided with a sand embankment, causing the bus to overturn.
The cause behind the crash is presently under investigation. The driver sustained light wounds and tested negative for alcohol consumption.
Response and Support
The governor expressed that the government is providing support for the rescue operation and identifying the victims. They remarked, "Our team is closely monitoring the incident and deeply mourn the loss of lives, the injuries and the suffering of all the families."

Statistics show that over 10,000 people lost their lives in traffic accidents across the country in the current year.
This tragedy comes after a number of similar bus accidents in recent months. Earlier this year, eleven people, among them two children, died when a passenger bus overturned in southeastern Brazil. In February, a bus transporting college students collided with a lorry on a highway in São Paulo state, killing 12 passengers. Last September, a vehicle with a sports team flipped on a road, causing three fatalities.
